MONTE SANTIAGO -

Where : extreme north East of Burgos. Surface: 2410 Ha. 529,55 Ha are d eclared Natural monument and the remaining 1881,3 form the protection zone of the periphery.

Relief: An impressive rocky amphitheatre formed by the limestone crests of the “Sierra Salvada” and from there springs the river “Nervión” in a 300 meter high waterfall.

Vegetation: Meanly beech trees, there are also bitter oaks, evergreen oaks, yews and natural fields.

Fauna: there are a lot of Griffon vultures, royal eagles, short-toed eagles, falcons, Egyptian vultures, wolves, roe-deer, wild boars, squirrels, otters and wildcats. It is a migration area for birds.

Access: just after Berberana and before your arrival at the mountain pass of Orduña.
